New Zone “Strip Central” Added to Las Vegas Strip Hotels on Hotwire
If you are bidding for travel on Hotwire in Vegas, you may be happy to learn that they have now added a new bidding zone, “Strip Central”. For travelers wanting a precise location using Hotwire’s blind Hot Rate Hotel system, this is a welcome addition. In the old zoning system, travelers had a choice between “Strip North” and “Strip South”. This is not too bad, as travelers were often able to reveal their hotel before booking using the Hotwire Las Vegas Hotel List. Now, its even easier with the introduction of a third zone on the Strip, “Strip Central”.
This is great because it means less risk. Essentially, the smaller the bidding zone, the happier travelers are going to be. It avoids disappointment of ending up way on the extreme north or south end of the Strip. I recently booked a hotel, for example, in Strip South and managed to get the Aria hotel, a 5-star hotel. Because of the finer granularity of hotel zones, I was able to avoid getting the Vdara which I know is in Strip Central. In the old 2-zone structure, there is no way I could have excluded that hotel.
This is a big improvement for bidding travelers looking to their Las Vegas Strip hotels on Hotwire.
Hotels In Each Vegas Area
Thanks to travelers in the Hotwire Forum, we have a good sense of what hotels are in each area. Here are the hotels we know about in each area, as newly defined by Hotwire:
Strip North: This area essentially begins at Treasure Island on the west side of the Strip, and Palazzo and Venetian on the east side of the Strip and extends quite far north up to the Stratosphere.
Strip Central: Just south of Treasure Island is the Mirage hotel and casino. This is essentially where the Strip Central area begins, but it does not include the Venetian hotel. It includes all the core hotels on the strip, and stops at the Vdara and the Cosmopolitan (westside) and Planet Hollywood (east side).
Strip South: This area begins just south of the Cosmo and Planet Hollywood. The Aria hotel is where this zone begins, and it extends south quite far past the Luxor to Mandalay Bay.
